Overview
A permit is required for any work done to expand the square footage or overall footprint of an existing one-or two-family dwelling. Adding a second story, an attached garage, a sunroom, or a master suite are examples of residential additions.
Homeowners wishing to pull their own permits, must physically reside at the address where the work will be done.
Application Requirements
- Building Permit Application
- Cautionary Statement for Owners Obtaining Building Permits (for all homeowners pulling their own building permit)
- 2 copies of detailed building plans
- Plat of Survey with proposed addition drawn to scale and setbacks clearly indicated
- Information determining compliance with the energy conservation standards may be required (heat loss calcs)
- Payment โ See application for current fees
- An Erosion Control permit may be required upon review by the Engineering Department. You will be contacted and advised accordingly
