1. Application packet received
2. Application packet  will be reviewed. This process can take up to ten (10) business days from complete submittal.
3. Permit issued
4. Work may begin
5. Inspections performed
   1. Post holes (prior to setting posts)
   2. Rough Framing (prior to decking)
   3. Final (deck is completed)
6. Permit closed after passing final inspection.

• It is the responsibility of the homeowner to locate lot lines by either a plat of survey or the use of a survey company.
• The City does not provide any surveying services.

• Attached decks must meet the same setback requirements as the principal structure. 
• Freestanding decks shall be located behind the front elevation of the principal structure, shall maintain side setbacks for the entire length of the deck, and shall be located no less than 5 feet from the rear property line.
• A freestanding deck has a maximum size of 500 square feet.
• Decks may not be built in any easement.

All Decks shall comply with the requirement of the Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code.

If the deck does not conform to Appendix B or Appendix C, Engineered Structural Analysis plans must be submitted with application.
