The Lottery and Gaming Credit provides direct property tax relief to qualifying taxpayers in the form of a credit on your yearly real estate property tax bill.
Eligibility Requirements
- You were the owner of the property as of January 1, 2024.
- This property was used as your primary residence.
- You cannot claim this credit on business property, rental properties, land, garages, or other properties that are not your primary residence.
- You must be a Wisconsin resident.
- You can only claim one Lottery and Gaming Credit.
If you meet these requirements, fill out the 2024 Lottery and Gaming Credit Application, and return to the City Treasurer by January 31, 2025.
If you purchased your property after January 1, 2024 and the prior owner used the property as their primary residence, you can apply for the Lottery and Gaming Credit using the Department of Revenue Lottery and Gaming Credit Application Portal.
Beginning in 2025, all application and removal requests will be handled online only through the portal.
Once applied for, the lottery credit will remain on the tax bill every year, until we are notified that the property no longer qualifies. If the requirements above are no longer applicable, you must notify the Treasurer to remove the Lottery and Gaming Credit by filling out the Lottery and Gaming Credit Removal Request form.
*Note - Failure to notify the Treasurer to remove a lottery credit on a non-qualified property could result in having to pay the lottery credit amount back to the Department of Revenue plus interest and penalties if discovered during a Department of Revenue audit. If this amount is not paid back, it can be placed on your property tax bill as a special charge.
2024 Lottery Credit Amount: TBD in November 2024
2023 Lottery Credit Amount: $269.96
If you were the owner of your property, used it as your primary residence as of January 1, 2024 and you did not receive a Lottery and Gaming Credit on your 2024 tax bill, you can apply for a late lottery credit. Apply for the 2024 credit between February 1, 2025 and October 1, 2025 using the Department of Revenue Lottery and Gaming Credit Application Portal.
