Our list is ever-changing guided by field observations for urban tolerance and, resistance to insects and diseases, as various issues arise or change. We are always happy to discuss characteristics of trees and optimal planting sites for individual species. We can likely direct you to examples of all of the street tree species listed, somewhere in Oak Creek.

STREET TREE LIST

Large Growing Trees:

• Ohio buckeye - Aesculus glabra – ‘Homestead,’ ‘Autumn Splendor’
• Horsechestnut – Aesculus hippocastanum – ‘Baumannii’, possibly other
• Hackberry – Celtis occidentalis
• Ginkgo - Ginkgo biloba – male cultivars only
• Kentucky coffeetree – Gynmocladus dioicus – male cultivars only
• Honeylocust – Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis
• Sycamore/Planetree – Platanus – Anthracnose resistant cultivars
• Oaks - Quercus:
  • White oak – Q. alba
  •  Swamp White oak – Q. bicolor
  •  Shingle oak – Q. imbricaria
  •  Bur oak – Q. macrocarpa
  •  Chinquapin oak – Q. muehlenbergii
  •  English oak – Q. robur
