Health Department Inspection InformationThe Oak Creek Health Department is an agent for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and Wisconsin Department of Health Services for the purpose of licensing, conducting inspections, and investigating complaints. All establishments are routinely inspected annually, but more often if follow ups are necessary to achieve compliance with all applicable regulations.

Establishments that are regularly inspected include:

  • Restaurants and retail food establishments
  • Farmer's Markets
  • Temporary food events
  • Hotels/motels
  • Public swimming pools
  • Micro markets
  • School cafeterias
  • Mobile food trucks and carts

An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term operation of an establishment. The inspection reports reflect the “Critical Risk Factor” violations that were observed at the time of inspection. Critical Risk Factors are improper practices or procedures that have been identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), through scientific data, as the most prevalent contributing factors of food-borne illness or injury. “Risk Factors” include: food from unsafe sources; inadequate cooking; improper holding temperatures; contaminated equipment; and poor personal hygiene.
