The Oak Creek Fire Department works cooperatively with schools, community groups, businesses, and individual citizens to provide effective fire prevention programs.  Please fill out the form below if you are interested in the following programs.  Please note, most of our programs are available only to Oak Creek residents and businesses only.

CPR Program Courses

Every minute that goes by after someone goes into cardiac arrest, the chances of survivability decreases by 10%.  Early recognition of cardiac arrest, early compressions and defibrillation saves lives!Hands only CPR

The Oak Creek Fire Department is an advocate in public education and increasing bystander CPR through the courses below to help save lives.  The minimum class size is 12.

  • Hands Only CPR.  This course is designed for the layperson to focus on compressions only in the event of cardiac arrest. Use of AED can also be included.  No certification associated with this course.

    Who would need this course?  Anyone who wants to know CPR and does NOT require a certification.

  • Heartsaver - Adult/Child/Infant.   This instructor led, hands on course goes over compressions, breathing and treatment for choking victims.  Use of AED included. Can be adult only, or all age groups. Certification and cost associated with this course.
  • First Aid.  Often taught along with the Heartsaver CPR course.  This course covers patient assessment and legal questions along with medical, trauma and environmental emergencies.

    Who would need these courses?  Physical trainers, babysitters, athletic coaches, teachers or anyone requiring a CPR certification that is NOT in the healthcare profession.

  • Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP).  Instructor led, hands on course going over Adult/Child/Infant basic life support measures and CPR. More in depth training with ventilation and AED use.  Also covers choking treatment for all age groups.  Successful completion of hands on training and written test needed to be certified.  Certification and cost associated with this course.

    Who would need this course?  Anyone requiring a certification for CPR related to the healthcare profession such as nurses, EMT's, doctors, and dental professionals.


     

Fire Extinguisher

 

Fire Extinguisher Training

Designed for Oak Creek businesses wishing to be trained in fire extinguishers.

Hands on course with short informative video.  Students will learn different types of fires, types of fire extinguishers and how to safely approach and effectively extinguish the fire.


 

Senior Citizen Safety Education Course

Designed for groups of senior citizens and/or their family, who would like more information regarding fire/life safety and fall education and prevention.

 

 


 

Fall Prevention

Each year in the United States, more than 1.6 million adults age 65 and older go to emergency departments for fall related injuries.  If you are concerned for yourself or a loved one and would like to learn how to reduce falls and increase fall awareness, the Health Department hosts a program called "Stepping On".  Course information can be found on the Health Department's website.


 

Station Tours

We offer fire stations tours to schools, community groups, day care facilities and individuals.  If you have a group greater than 4, we recommend that you fill out the request form below to schedule a date and time for your group tour.  Smaller groups are welcome to stop by and a Firefighter will be happy to show you around!
