The Oak Creek Fire Department provides fire, emergency medical, rescue and prevention services to the City of Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The Oak Creek Fire Department is staffed by 57 employees (54uniformed/career and 3 civilian staff) who are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to the community.
The City of Oak Creek is located in southeastern Milwaukee County. One of the fastest growing communities in the region, Oak Creek offers easy access to the social and cultural benefits of the Milwaukee metropolitan area, while also providing the comforts of a suburban community.
The department provides services through its three fire stations, protecting a community that covers over 28 square miles and has a population of over 36,000 people. The department responded to over 4,500 incidents in 2020, approximately 75% of which are emergency medical responses.
As a participating member in the Milwaukee County Shared Services program and MABAS Division 107, the Oak Creek Fire Department assists with incident responses throughout Milwaukee and Racine Counties.
Services we provide
In addition to providing emergency services to the community, the department also provides a variety of programs aimed at preventing and/or reducing the impact of emergency events. These programs include:
- Building plan review and permitting
- Fire inspections
- Fire investigation (in collaboration with the Oak Creek Police Department)
- Fire extinguisher training
- Fire prevention education
- Community CPR/AED training
- Public access defibrillation program (PulsePoint application)
- Active shooter training (in collaboration with the Oak Creek Police Department)
- Other specialty programs based on request
Additionally, the Fire Chief of the Oak Creek Fire Department serves as the Emergency Management Director for the city. The Chief and his designee's direct the activities associated with maintaining the city's emergency management capabilities; both locally and regionally.
